PMMA - Polimetilmetacrilato
A new concept in biomaterial implants.
The material used is PMMA, or metacrilato , a biologically
accepted substance the has been used in Medicine since 1950.
It has started being used primarily as hip prosthesis, later
in lenses placed inside the eyes, surgical adherents, and
most recently as aesthetical implants. The PMMA used in
aesthetical procedures is prepared exclusively for this
purpose, with standard sized micro spheres that meet the
necessary needs of face and body aesthetical implants. Each
area receives specific product concentration, which are
available in 3 different concentrations (2%, 10% and 30%).
PMMA is biocompatible, can be placed next to bones and adjoining
tissues; can be placed along the muscle, as in gluteus enlargement,
and can be placed in the fat tissue and skin, to treat wrinkles.
The material flexibility, allowing uses in bones, muscles,
fat and skin, was the key factor in choosing this material
for Bioplastia. The Bioplastia Technique uses non traumatic
micro cannulas, which do not harm the vessels and nerves
and all treatments are done with micro punctures, under
the skin, next to body structure, without any cuts and no
need for suture. Tiny pertuitos smaller than 0.5 mm are
done, smaller than a pin tip, from where the non traumatic
micro cannulas are introduced and will carry the PMMA micro
spheres to the right place, so the Bioplastia changes can
take place. Everything is done with the help of a local
anesthesia.
The patient can go home immediately after the procedure.
There are no cuts or stitches, the tiny pertuitos are covered
with a small antiallergic adhesive tape, which are removed
within 2 days. Although some transitory signs can remain
after the treatment, if the patient wants, can have the
daily routine restored, can travel, work, and have the daily
activities. The signs vanish in a few days with the help
of cold compresses and light painkillers and anti-inflammatory
are prescribed for a few days.
